The timing raises a question that the public deserves to hear debated openly. If the proposal is truly defensible, then let it pass through the proper route.

Tito Sen really walked into the Senate session like the professor tired of students pretending they understood parliamentary procedure. 😂

While Marcoleta and the majority were trying to rush discussions on remote Senate participation, Sotto and Lacson basically reminded everyone that Senate rules aren’t ‘terms and conditions’ you skip without reading.

The moment Sotto started pointing out that the Committee on Rules wasn’t even properly constituted yet, you could almost hear the collective panic from the other side. ‘Ano ‘to, binabraso?’ was the line of the night.

Marcoleta thought numbers alone would carry the argument. Sotto reminded everyone that procedure, quorum, and proper process still matter in a democracy. That’s why the minority walked out — because you can’t preach rule of law while shortcutting the rules yourselves.

Yesterday’s session wasn’t just debate. It was a masterclass in parliamentary procedure from someone who actually knows how the Senate works.

I never voted for Tito Sotto before, but credit where it’s due. I honestly respect what he did last night. Since his comeback, he has been standing for what is right more often, and what happened last night proved it again.

When the Minority senators walked out and the Senate lost quorum, Tito Sotto immediately pointed it out and moved to adjourn the session. Marcoleta tried to argue and question the rules, but Tito Sen shut it down fast with that line: “Akala ko ba magaling sa rules?”

And the thing is, Sotto was absolutely correct based on Senate procedure. The motion to adjourn takes precedence once there’s no quorum. Cayetano couldn’t do anything. Even Loren Legarda, as presiding officer, had no choice but to concede and adjourn the session.

Tito Sotto stood his ground.

Turns out, the “comedian” understood the Senate rules better than all of them. Maybe tama nga na bumalik ka, Tito Sen. 👏
