Recognizing the many barriers that prevent full participation, Trisha Kaplan manages national initiatives to remove barriers and make trail opportunities, and the trail sector, inclusive, accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

It includes a diverse network of academic, tourism sector, not-for-profit, and government partners collaborating in the development and use of new tools to document accessibility in nature-based tourism and recreation spaces.

Led by Mark Groulx, an Associate Professor at UNBC's School of Planning and Sustainability, the Nature for All project funded by the SSHRC supports an evidence-based approach to promoting inclusive experiences across BC’s nature continuum through barrier-free design.

Mike Prescott's project, PARCOURS, seeks to inform accessibility standards in national parks. Currently, he is the project manager for the Accessible Organizations Project in British Columbia tasked with helping organizations to develop accessibility plans.
