This is why ex-fundamentalists are as loud as we are. We see the genocidal influence of toxic theological practice everywhere we turn every hour of the day.
The direct line between elitist biblical interpretation and climate change, wealth gap, colonization, patriarchy, hate crimes, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Last week, 2 Denver youths died due to gun violence and the loudest voices are calling for harsher punishments for youth offenders.
The loudest voices are always the voice of "peacekeepers" while the ones Jesus described as blessed are the "peacemakers."
The idea of peacekeeping usually involves rhetoric surrounding toughness and law & order. Harsher consequences for offenders.
The idea of peacemaking is about changing the conditions that produce violence and harm. Deeply intentional relationships with those who are struggling.
