@TheStage ...R&D claims but it is merely a technical quirk of the system that TTR sits within this batch of tax reliefs. TTR has nothing to do with the Treasury's tax gap, but small cos are sometimes paying the price.
@TheStage Another issue going largely unnoticed is that HMRC are pushing back hard at details of relatively small claims, often by not for profit companies producing innovative work. It's hugely unjust because it costs them time and money. HMRC are right to investigate dodgy industrial...
Good stuff from @holly_mead_ on tax nonsenses. She could also have gone for higher-rate pension relief (most people probably get this wrong) and A1 NI forms for short work stints overseas. And they closed the Office for Tax Simplification in 2022. Like its work was done, lol

Well done @holly_mead_ for Times column calling out terrible HMRC phone-answering. They get 2 calls per staff member per day and still can't deal with them
They say tax doesn’t have to be taxing but sometimes it feels like HMRC does its best to make it so - starting by reducing its phone service at one of the busiest times of year. Hardly a role model for customer service

@jarismullet It depends. First thing to do is go to https://t.co/OXAP0X754j "check your NI record" and see how many years you have fully paid-up. Then we can help you consider. ****NB We do not generally make this offer to Liverpool supporters ****
@jarismullet Thanks for the q, Lee. This is only relevant if you have years missing, and won't or might not get to the full rack-up of years. So in practice this won't apply to most folks who've had a full career. When we speak we'll check on your record (anyone can check their own online) :)
Loved our rocking tax session with some of these wonderful folks at @gsa_acting today as they embark on wonderful careers. Yeah OK it was a tax talk but it featured AT LEAST ONE ACTUAL JOKE https://t.co/fHvOse1Jbj
@nickdennis Hope you are having a good weekend, Dr D. A small tip I just shared with Georgie: ep.191 of the Grenfell enquiry podcast on BBC Sounds - i/v with Eric Pickles - v revealing on ministers vs. civil servants. Worth a listen if you haven't :)
