Previous research with adults in the United States has found that anger is perceived more quickly than happiness in Black faces, while the opposite effect was found for white faces. 3/3
Prospective teachers appear more likely to misperceive Black children as angry than white children. This anger bias can have huge consequences as it can lead to Black children being disciplined unfairly and suspended more often from school. 1/3

This can have long-term ramifications as common racist misperceptions can extend from school into adulthood and "potentially have fatal consequences, such as when police officers kill unarmed Black people on the street or in their own homes." 2/3
When racial profiling in relation to stop and search is so deep-seated that it affects black MPs as well as the police force's *own BME staff*, you know it's not just a question of a few "bad apples". This is a systemic problem and this is the definition of institutional racism.
