Congratulations to the IceCube team, who will soon be studying Antarctic sea ice properties using nanosatellites and AI.
It's among the first projects supported by UK-Australia Space Bridge & @SmartSatCRC.

Our team is keeping a close eye on Antarctic sea ice extent, which retreated suddenly and steeply after peaking on Aug 30. Current extent (in red) is around the second-lowest recorded for this time of year, and shares similarities with the 2016 trend (in blue).

New research reveals the 2019-20 Australian bushfires had far-reaching effects on our oceans. The 715M tonnes of CO2 & smoke they generated produced a vast #phytoplanktonbloom in the #SouthernOcean between NZ & South America & turned NZ #glaciers brown
