This would only benefit the UK if they can quickly dismantle and then rebuild the state apparatus within a single term. If a new incoming government can not do that then we, the UK are in for a bumpy road for the next decade. We are in a zero sum game, damned if we do, damned if we don’t.

GDP includes bloated government spending. GDP per capita (arguably a better measure) is lower than the rest of the UK. Wales can not support it self alone. It can not join the EU alone. It does not have its own currency, boarder or judiciary. To think otherwise is pure fantasy.
