tried implementing everything I've been reading about search & retrieval systems this weekend for fun.

built PaperLens: a search engine over 29 small-language-model papers (671 text chunks), testing 4 retrieval approaches: dense, bm25, hybrid(rrf), ColBERT rerank.

interesting takeaway: RRF carries most of the work, ColBERT barely adds anything on a dataset this small, it would only really shine on a much bigger collection.
