Iowa is now seeking approval from the Iowa Board of Regents to to proceed with planning renovations to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, per release.

The proposed project, estimated between $50 million and $70 million, would be funded entirely through private gifts and completed in phases over 2 years.

“Due to the incredible success of our silent leadership fundraising campaign, we are prepared to take this exciting next step,” Iowa AD Beth Goetz said in a statement. “Recent improvements like the student section risers and new court have shown what’s possible. These renovations will take that next step - making events more exciting, more comfortable, and ensuring we preserve the intimidating atmosphere that helps our teams compete at the highest level.”

You cannot claim that you’re aborting your Down syndrome child because you don’t want him to “suffer.” First of all, killing a child so they don’t suffer is psychopath serial killer logic. You’re on the same moral plane as Andrea Yates. Second, children with Down syndrome are famously some of the happiest people you’ll ever meet in your life. They are not in fact living in a state of perpetual torment. So what’s really happening is that you’re killing your child so that YOU won’t suffer the inconvenience of caring for him. This is about freeing yourself of your own perceived suffering. If you’re going to be a child killing sociopath, at least be honest about it.

Your job is just to eliminate #4. You will have good trades, and bad trades. but as long as you eliminate the big losses, the other 3 outcomes will lead to consistent growth over time. Our decisions compound with time.

We will have both ups and downs. That's unavoidable bc we all make mistakes. But the goal is just to have higher lows and higher highs consistently. You might have a 20% win here, and a 5% loss there. Then you move onto the next one. It always comes down to probabilities and just putting ourselves in a position to win.
