@archaicvision@foxinsox26 Yep. They’ll find a reason to fire you or pretend the position has been eliminated altogether and lay you off. They almost always win one way or another.
@foxinsox26@naturalslf@angryaboutbikes Yeah that all sounds great in theory but in practice very few people can even get that far. The EEOC is pretty useless.
@foxinsox26@Suzanne08053@angryaboutbikes Not really. They won’t come out and say that’s why, they claim it’s restructuring/downsizing and the position is no longer needed. They’ll also offer severance that is conditional upon you waiving your right to sue. They know what they’re doing.
@naturalslf@angryaboutbikes Right so what they do instead is poke holes in your paperwork to try to deny it and/or offer “accommodations” that don’t cost them anything and won’t even help your situation. Then they will find other ways to get rid of you.
@KaizenMayDay@naturalslf@angryaboutbikes Yup, and if they can’t manage to find a good reason to fire you they’ll find a reason for a “lay off.”
Workers protections are a complete joke in this country.
@gweenhouseghost@angryaboutbikes I conveniently got “laid off” when I wouldn’t let them bully me out of needing an accommodation. And now I can’t sue them without forfeiting the severance package, even though it’s clearly retaliation 😒
