These are metro buses; Sri Lanka had no functioning metro bus fleet until a few months ago, so this is not a shift from Indian to Chinese buses. The dealership won because its product specifications beat those of Indian, Chinese and other brands. An Indian bus dealership in Sri Lanka should worry less about this and more about private bus owners shifting to Yutong and other Chinese long-haul coaches. In an open market, owners consider brand reputation, cost, reliability, quality and specs, not country of origin. A decade ago many Ashok Leyland and other Indian coaches were seen, but no newly imported Indian long-haul coaches have appeared recently. If the product is better, it will dominate in an open market. Indian bikes dominate the Sri Lankan market because they are affordable, reliable, efficient and suited to local conditions. The Sri Lankan government has always maintained favourable conditions for Indian vehicle imports through preferential tariff treatment under the India-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement, while China and other major exporters lack such agreements. You imply favouritism that does not exist.
