@Nirgal451@PhilipThalis That's exactly the same as at the start of the rally when the crowd was busting to get started. We were fed through two lanes and it was safe and orderly.
Absolutely incredible footage from today, the biggest protest of the 21st century in The Netherlands.
150,000 people in The Hague to protest against the genocide in Palestine.
Sydney Uni VC Mark Scott has just been given a big payrise, taking his salary to $1,343,000 💵 💵💰 – a reward for imposing policies on the uni over the last year that can only be described as coming from the *far-right*. Read this 🧵and see if I'm exaggerating. 1/12
Very well attended Staff for Palestine meeting at @Sydney_Uni tonight on why the Universities Australia antisemitism definition and other standalone definitions should be rejected. A motion to this effect was passed overwhelmingly.
Yesterday in court we discovered some interesting things about the culture of the ABC, led by its MD David Anderson
Anderson considers the statement
‘Australia is a racist country’** a ‘fact’ and therefore an impartial statement (despite millions of Australians may disagree but offending them not a problem).
However, he considers the phrase
‘Illegally occupied Palestinian Territories’ is not a fact and can indeed be antisemitic (despite the opinion of the most senior juridical body in the world the ICJ).
It raises serious questions about the content of ABC News if this quality of reasoning informs judgement about content, and perhaps explains its poor coverage of ICJ findings and failures to hold political leaders to account over Australia’s obligations as well as inform the public. It also raises serious questions about judgement in decisions to counsel or sack employees.
I think there is great cause for alarm among Australians about bias at the ABC and the suitability of its MD.
(** In my view, that statement is arguably a reasonable opinion)
