The chaplaincy program also regularly receives hygiene items via donation throughout the year, and financial donations help fund some of the items in the packages.
On Wednesday, staff members and volunteers from Foundation of HOPE, the jail’s chaplaincy partner, delivered holiday packages to every incarcerated individual. Each package contained several gifts, including a thermal undershirt, hygiene items, candy, pens, paper & other items.
Participants live together on the HOPE pod and take part in 60 hours of evidence-based classes. After graduating, they can remain on the pod as group leaders and mentors, while taking graduate-level classes.
Congratulations to the 19 men who graduated from the Foundation of HOPE Pre-Release program Thursday, and thanks to @ace_innamorato and Chuck Ondo of Semper Fi Mission who offered inspiring words to the graduates.

We are grateful to have welcomed Panda and Dingo during a recent visit.
Today was bittersweet as Jack Pischke, the Allegheny County Jail’s beloved Program Administrator, is retiring after 41 years at the jail. The jail has officially renamed the education area the “John ‘Jack’ Pischke Education Center.”
Jack joined the jail as a counselor in 1983, shortly after graduating from IUP. He was instrumental in educational programming, facilitating voting access and education, developing the Veterans Housing Unit and countless other tasks and projects during his four decades at ACJ.
