@shakarianz mind you i’m black. my tweet was about the face cards i grew up seeing on 2000s tv, not saying that attractive black men don’t exist now. black men were heavily underrepresented in those mainstream roles, so obviously the examples i’m referencing are going to reflect that reality
@shakarianz black men absolutely had the face cards too. i just think it’s important to acknowledge that they were seriously underrepresented in prominent male roles on mainstream tv back then, which limited who was being put in front of us. that lack of representation was a real issue
@lilapilled those are just some of the most famous male actors from 90/2000s tv that came to mind. it wasn’t meant to suggest they were the only ones worth highlighting
@hdecupid@zolc97 *sawadika — 2.7M
rockstar — 5.89M
comparing lj to swdk when rockstar exists is so funny 😭 if you’re trying to compare their solo releases, at least use songs from the same era instead of jumping between different streaming periods just because the numbers fit your narrative
@hdecupid new woman — 6,007,496 (#4)

lisa’s own collabs have consistently debuted with strong numbers, so maybe distinguish “lisa’s songs” from “other artists’ songs featuring lisa” before making that argument!
@barbielisayaa i think my point is more that there’s a diff between sawadika being mentioned in press and having promo that is specifically designed to keep the song moving. if the press is giving it the spotlight, that’s great but i’d still love to see more song-focused moments around it too
@barbielisayaa yeah i get what you mean and i agree that the ep obviously needs to be part of the conversation, especially with it being the bigger project. i’m not saying they should completely ignore everything else just to talk about sawadika.
@barbielisayaa especially when the first major performance is at the vmas, meaning there’s a pretty big gap where the song has to keep its momentum without a live performance to anchor the rollout.
