Morning thoughts on a data marketplace... (rambling thoughts)...
agreed, not a new concept, even in data. getting both sides together and actually transacting is the hard part, and relationships matter here. tech, ease of use, relationships.. all matter. the exciting aspect is there has never been a time like right now (my optimistic view point is on today). tailwinds at the 10k ft overview look strong.
now, with my economics lens on, I look at how the market works today (and I see inefficiencies - like many growing markets):
-Prices for the same kind of data run $10K to $5M, mostly unpublished
-Buyers pay up to $50K just for an intro
-90-120 days from first call to cash (longer sometimes)
-many different layers/people/companies now in the mix of that transaction
-The seller gets one quote and is paid once, even when the data can used again and again (changing, but in most cases)
-The buy side is thin but growing fast: dozens of funded buyers, most of them new, with likely more coming (in my view very likely, but counter-argument is AI trade blows up in full). Just read something that there were 150+ buyers, half of which have been created in the last 2 years and the $$ they can spend (collectively) is unlike anything that has come before.
For this specific data (there is plenty more out there btw - not just corpus data - but its the flavor of year), the sell side is thousands of companies that don't know what they have or whether they're one of the rare ones worth a premium. and the work to "supply" it; is substantial but small tech-enabled gains are happening to make this easier. still hard, still actually have to properly communicate, but gains are happening.
TLDR;
yes, a very hard goal to achieve (makes it exciting)
there has never been a time like this (tech, $, growth; tailwinds)
I'm happy to connect with all sides.
could I be wrong? could this be dumb looking back 1 year from now? sure....
but i also could be right.
simplicity for buyers.
simplicity for sellers.
built around trust, logic, and transparency.
if executed and built from the ground up as a community, it can (and will) eliminate a lot of current and future headaches for all parties.
We are absolutely cooking in the last 48hrs.
Major updates, new listings, improved verification checks and graphs, improved buy orders & buyer onboarding, broker & business owner data tools (we will do the majority of the work for you).

Some updates from the RL desk.
Amazing news: Buyers are lining up to spend 8 figures a month on https://t.co/plyPgsop2F. awesome. I can't wait to work to build that number higher over time.
Sellers, brokers, everyone apparently on X now:
Friendly reminder:
1. Everyone (now) has "data" leads.
2. However, very few have a deal a lab can sign.
Let's fix that. We want your vetted, verified, ready to go data listings and I'm here to help you (i've been through the process on all sides).
Here's how we close that gap, and where you come in.
A quick thread 🧵
Full circle...
Vetted business data, sold to an agent* (I'm going to poop my pants when this happens), to build a fake business in an RL environment, to train a better agent, to ultimately go run a real business.😵💫
*agent will be really cool, humans welcome :)

I finally did it.
I created an app/extension combo to help me manage my time on socials (slowly drifting into ridiculousness).
Goal was to have the "noise" truly STFU.
You might see less of me now, or simply dedicated time slots with ridiculous amounts of posts.
I think we could all use a little STFU time. Time to focus and build.

This is exactly why we’ve been pushing Jottings in a new direction.
Thousands of businesses want to participate in this market. Most have no idea how to go from “we probably have something valuable” to something an AI buyer can actually use.
Jottings is building the prep layer in between, we can help!
This isn’t just a Spirit Airlines story.
You'll see more and more stories like this come out. AI companies are putting big money behind the operational data businesses create every day.
And this isn’t only for huge companies.
We’re already working with a mortgage lender, a hospitality company and a car rental company.
Most owners don’t know what’s valuable or how to package it. They shouldn’t have to.
Jottings does the hard part.
This is amazing. Congrats @jonathan_wilke
Side note; every single brand (including outbid) should have the @bullseye_so pixel on your site. Then you can actually identify, real humans, who are visiting the site.
On outbid's side, they can then share this data with the top spot (huge ROI boost besides just click throughs).
On the brand's side, clicks --> identifications (emails, linkedin, socials, demo data) --> workflows (drips, linkedin connects, social connects --> customers & revenue!
Weekend thoughts. Follow the logic here.
-Distribution is everything, one of the last remaining moats.
-UGC/Creators can make or break brands they run campaigns for.
-These creators get paid to tap into their audience (hard to build, usually many year) and monetize for the contracted brand.
-Its not easy (and constantly needs work)...finding long term brand relationships and constantly adding new brands to their list to promote.
So the idea... what if they start truly owning their media. While still being paid by brands (rented), but now they can/should/could start to build a truly owned business on their own; starting with data, adding additional offers, building their own products, etc.
That's the stepping stone we want to build with @bullseye_so for creators.
Cooking right now.
