After you enable the island backup service, you must exit and close the game for your data to upload. The date of your latest backup upload will be displayed in the lower left side of title screen! #ACNH

Remember to close and exit your game entirely before updating. Make sure it’s finished saving before exiting! (Wait until home screen). You can check if your data is corrupt under the data management settings on your Switch.

Oh fun, the new #ACNH update adds some incomplete stuff related to save data backup. Doesn't seem to be accessible yet (all the text for it is in Japanese, completely untranslated in other regions) but it shows they're at least working actively on it
