Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are unsung hero's! They are the 'brains' that keep the food on the shelves, water in our homes, help to manufacture virtually every single thing that we buy... and all whilst keeping the lights on!

Production Lines across the world rely on #Automation and #ControlSystems. Often, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are at the heart of the process. These 'brains' of manufacturing work away day in day out, completely unnoticed, ensuring reliable production 24/7 #UKmfg

From $12.46 Billion 2025 to an est. $26.40 Billion 2034. That's what you do when you're SERIOUS about Manufacturing. Policies prioritising #Automation & Robotics investment are non negotiable, if Andy Burnham is serious about Reindustrialisation and #UKMfg
Learning PLC Programming under pressure from customers, on live projects, isn't fun! So if you're looking to learn or improve your Mitsubishi PLC Programming & Software skills - this guy is worth a follow 👍 #plcprogramming#plcprogrammer#plcengineer#automation#controlsystems
From Water & Wastewater, Energy, Manufacturing, Food & Beverages and Healthcare - we’ve seen increased levels of #Cyber attacks take place across industry. #Automation and #ControlSystems are at risk, which now includes French Supermarket Refrigerators ⬇️ https://t.co/7J0MlJr1Kx
RFID Systems can be a game changer when it comes to accurately tracking parts and products throughout the production process. They're often hugely beneficial to Manufacturers and #Automation users who integrate RFID technology within their #ControlSystems.
The Hoover Dam is famous for its power generation - approx. 4 billion kilowatt-hours per year, equivalent to powering 1.3M homes.
Although the Hydro Electric solution we supplied was considerably smaller, it still allowed accurate control and monitoring... 1/2

@macdonaldncode Biggest issue when hardware fails/original HMI is damaged and replacement is needed. We get called to users who have no plan in place or don’t realise they have a problem. Add in IIoT safeguards, passwords & user credentials, which can also be unknown, and it can be a challenge.
Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) reliably Control and Monitor Industrial #Automation & Machinery. They contain bespoke software that's been designed for that specific application - sometimes the only working version of the software in the entire world 👊

@macdonaldncode You make a great point @macdonaldncode, it needs consideration for sure. Software should be included in the docs handover at the end of every project, or following any updates, so a backup copy is safely secured. Not all devs or suppliers prioritise this and problems can occur.
Getting production lines back up & running at an unearthly hour or PLC upgrades, in harsh environments, one single wire at a time… feels a million miles from ‘kinda chic’.
But totally get the sentiment @Siemens
Every solution should be ‘kinda chic’ to the end user. Love it.

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”
Here’s Fred Dibnah, the legendary British steeplejack from Bolton, doing just that.
In 1979 he took part in this iconic BBC documentary.

Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) are a great way to monitor and control #Automation. However, once they become obsolete, like some Rockwell PanelView Plus HMIs, carful consideration is needed to mitigate the risks of potentially lengthy downtime should they fail.

🇬🇧 £85 MILLION UK MANUFACTURING INVESTMENT!
British manufacturer Numatic International, best known for its Henry and Hetty vacuum cleaners, is investing more than £85 million in Somerset to expand production and develop new products.
The investment in the Chard manufacturing hub includes its ongoing 24,500m² expansion, which incorporates a newly opened research and development centre of excellence, a state-of-the-art 8,000-pallet global distribution centre due to be completed in spring 2027, and significant investment in self-generated renewable energy.
Designed, engineered and made in Britain, Henry is the UK’s best-selling domestic vacuum by volume, with over one million units produced every year, and one in four households owning the friendly face of cleaning. Since its launch in 1981, more than 20 million Henrys have been produced.
Founded in 1969 by Chris Duncan, Numatic International employs over 1,200 people and exports its products to more than 100 countries across the world. #UKmfg
Bench testing PLC code is a great way of trying out new elements and functionality within the code. It allows PLC Programming to be carried out by the programmer away from live automation and often the pressures that go with it.

Biometric switches safeguard #Automation by ensuring machinery access control to only those who are authorised. Here's a Schneider Harmony XB5S type we configured into a #ControlSystem for a #UKAutomotive manufacturer to ensure part quality was maintained during production.
Control Systems are everywhere!
They keep the lights on, put food on the table and work tirelessly, un noticed everyday in millions of factories, production lines, warehouses & machinery. Many are completely bespoke, one offs, designed for a single application. #Automation
It's BOOM time for Industrial #Robots!
The world’s factories now operate 4,664,000 industrial robots — a 9% increase in 2024 alone. Global industrial robot installations forecasted to surpass 700,000 units by 2028, representing CAGR of approximately 7% from 2025–2028
