Another research project by @acrasador looking at lateral hernias. Not much is published on this. We published our experience with rTAPP for spine surgery related lateral hernias. Dr Rasador’s project looked at TAR to address these hernias.
Here’s a nice algorithm they follow for lateral hernias:
@AmericanHernia #AHS25
Who else uses Suggamadex to help reduce postoperative urinary retention after hernia repair?
@acrasador just reviewed their data and it’s not as clear cut as we would like.
Anecdotally, our anesthesiologists tend to use it in patients who get rocuronium vs cisatracurium

Thank you for the recognition and support! Grateful to be part of such an important conversation! A special thanks to our research group and to @DiLaurentino and @NogueiraRaquel_ for the guidance and orientations #AHS2024

Congratulations to @carlosabs99 and the rest of our team for a great new study analyzing the state of female groin hernia repair.
We hope our studies—and the devastating findings of how females fare worse—stimulate you to understand and appreciate the importance of improving hernia care in females.

Anyone else like to do TIPP? 🙋🏻♀️ (Open Trans Inguinal PrePeritoneal hernia repair with mesh)
Meta analysis of 6 RCTs shows open TIPP at least as good as laparoscopic TEP for inguinal hernias. As presented with Brazilian team with @flavio_malcher by @anarasador.
Personally I find it more difficult to do a really good TIPP. Interestingly the chronic pain rate is no different than TEP.
