@bbc5live I also rather enjoyed watching my husband run his first ever marathon in Leiden. While he was sweating I was sat by a canal, enjoying the music from a boisterous group of supporters. A boat passed by with spectators enjoying a champagne picnic. My kind of marathon!
@bbc5live They were a lot more relaxed than the US State Department! The Netherlands was considered to have the gold standard in consular service. My research into the links between consular assistance and trial attendance was published by the Nuffield Trust.
@bbc5live Pitching to be Adam's ambassador to the Netherlands. As a 20-something young professional I visited The Hague to interview the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a research project for the charity, Fair Trials International 1/
Also really sick of the line about people with "serious lifelong'l conditions' no longer being reassessed. Have these people read the severe conditions criteria? Hardly anyone will qualify. You pretty much need to be quadriplegic. #politicslive#welfare
You can't just declare a condition and get Pip. The application process is detailed & distressing. And it's not 40k a year!
She needs to inform herself before moralising about these issues and stoking suspicion and mistrust of disabled people. #politicslive
The callousness and ableism by this woman on #politicslive is breathtaking. How dare anyone say we should 'absolutely' second guess medical specialists? They understand my conditions much better than the assessor who thought I shouldn't get support because I'm 'articulate'. 1/
@TheSmokingYeti@IamButterflySue@jk_rowling No..I imagine this refers to the fact people can be born with both sets of sex organs, ambiguous sex organs, chromosomes usually associated with being male or female but sex organs and genitals that look different from usual.

@DavidOlusoga You know the 'fantasy dinner party guest' game? You are a consistent feature at my table. I've learned so much about British history because of you. Can't think of many people I'd rather have a drink and a chat with.
@ZoeJardiniere Great job!
What a ridiculous thing the other guest said in suggesting that 'we' already had all the rights in the ECHR because British judges were involved in writing it. I guess we don't need any domestic laws, in that case. If we can imagine it, it already exists.
@steelys@trussliz Same here..We will likely have to move in order to keep a roof over our heads. But sure, tell us how much better off we would have been if you'd had MORE time, Liz.
Average disposable income will be lower at this election than it was in 2019, according to OBR forecasts, making this the first parliament for decades in which household income has fallen.
