After five seasons with Swindon Town, my journey at the football club I love has come to an end following redundancy.
To represent my hometown club, lead its content and connect with one of the most passionate fanbases in football was something I never took for granted.
It’s a shame to see such an unceremonious end because he did so much for Swindon’s comms. It’s a role where you can never really clock off, even working while he was on holiday. He put a lot of hard work into the role, but hopefully he lands on his feet somewhere new (2/2)
During my near two years at BBC Wiltshire I dealt with Callum a lot and the amount of work he put into the club was genuinely admirable. He had to do a LOT of work for just one person, but he was very skilled at what he did (1/2) #stfc
Multiple sources have indicated to me that Swindon Town have made Callum Knowles redundant. Callum is the club's sole permanent member of staff in the media and comms department, and his application and commitment to a trying role have been impressive during my short time back covering Town. I do not yet know how Swindon plan on replacing a redundant role that covers the vast majority of their media operation.
Ripley, Kilkenny, Clarke, Tafazolli and now Smith all being part of the team for next season gives me hope, now we’ve just gotta build around them #stfc
Genuinely don’t think I hate a club more than this one, the amount of decisions that always go their way puts Scottish football and its officiating to shame
This is why i do it, the thrills, the spills, the jeopardy, the highs and the lows, regardless about what’s gone before, today is all or nothing and this is why football is the greatest sport on earth. Be loud be proud for 90 mins+ everyone together, COME ON YOU REDS!🔴⚪️
