The origin of frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) is not well known. Recently, FFA has been linked to specific genetic variants in two genes: CYP1B1 & HLA-B*07:02.
HLA-B*07:02 participates in the immune response and CYP1B1 metabolizes xenobiotic estrogens.
