As Uganda commemorates 64 years of independence, we reaffirm our commitment to a just, equitable and sustainable society where all enjoy dignity, equality and freedom from poverty and oppression. May visionary leadership guide our shared future.
The training concluded with district-level accountability action plans for Nebbi, Zombo and Pakwach. The plans will guide follow-up on service delivery concerns and strengthen community-led engagement with duty bearers beyond the training.
Through practical exercises, group work and role plays, participants practised collecting evidence, reporting service delivery concerns and engaging duty bearers. The sessions also created space to share experiences and identify common accountability challenges.
Participants refreshed their skills in using Community Score Cards, Citizen Report Cards, Social Audits, Public Expenditure Tracking and other accountability tools to monitor public resources, assess services and amplify community voices.
Activistas, Accountability Champions, Citizen Journalists and Service Delivery Monitors brought experience from monitoring health, education, roads and government livelihood programmes. The training strengthened their ability to turn findings into action.

The work continues beyond the outreach. Follow-up will track referrals and agreed actions, document anonymised outcomes and identify recurring barriers, generating evidence to strengthen programming, advocacy and women’s economic security.
The initiative targeted 450 people across three outreach locations. The aim was to strengthen rights literacy, facilitate safer referrals and improve access to justice.
The outreach prioritised women and girls, widows, separated and divorced women, women heading households, women with disabilities, customary land users, GBV survivors, male champions and community leaders.
The clinic provided confidential consultations, case intake, basic document review and risk screening. With informed consent, priority cases could be referred to relevant legal, justice, land, protection and psychosocial service providers.
Participants received practical information on family land, inheritance, security of occupancy, spousal consent, documentation and available remedies equipping communities with knowledge to better understand, claim and protect their rights.
Distance, costs, fear of retaliation, limited legal literacy and uncertainty about where to seek assistance can prevent people from accessing justice. The mobile clinic brought rights information, confidential screening and referral pathways closer to communities.
Following concerns raised during a recent GBV awareness campaign, communities called for practical legal support on women’s land and property rights. The clinic responded to concerns including dispossession, inheritance disputes, unlawful land sales and documentation barriers.
Last week, @actionaiduganda’s Kapchorwa LRP brought legal support closer to communities through Mobile Legal Aid Clinics held across three outreach points in Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwo. The clinic supported women to understand, claim and protect their land and property rights.
