An op-ed by @PrEP4AllNow’s @ActivistJohnson as California’s state supreme court hears oral arguments in a lawsuit by 24,000 people living HIV, charging that Gilead Sciences delayed development of a safer version of tenofovir in order to protect profits.

@peterubel So sorry to see that your piece was taken down! Forbes has been incredibly biased in other coverage. Oral arguments in the case are taking place tomorrow- our organization @PrEP4AllNow is raising some awareness this week: https://t.co/feU8NwEBvh
We urgently need a national PrEP program that goes beyond paying for meds. Such program should also provide care for co-occurring epidemics. People need this NOW regardless of their insurance and/or immigration status. @HIVMA
Generic PrEP is a key to cost savings for a #NatlPrEPProgram, but is it safe and effective? PrEP4All's @KingPiscean504 writes for @TheBodyDotCom to explain generic PrEP and how it makes PrEP affordable and accessible. #PrEPSaves https://t.co/VmMie4fXop
The #mpox outbreak across #DRC is very concerning:
- 3,941 cases have been reported in 2024, including 271 deaths;
- 70% of cases and 87% of deaths are in children under 15 years of age;
- 2/3 (18 of 26) of provinces have reported cases in 2024;
- there are more cases reported in the first quarter of this year than in previous years;
- there is transmission of the clade I virus, including sexual transmission;
- gene deletions in some strains require review of diagnostic testing protocols to ensure that all countries can detect importations.
@WHO is supporting @MinSanteRDC in the outbreak response, including on extension of diagnostic capacity, community engagement, health worker training, immunization policy and provision of technical assistance to regulatory authorities for assessment of available vaccines.
Additional funding is needed to expand and sustain the response, and ensure the virus does not spread to neighbouring countries.
BREAKING: AVAC, @PrEP4AllNow, @HIVMA, and @PrEPInBlkUS celebrate US Congress decision to fund domestic HIV programs at the same level as last year after threats to eliminate $767M in critical funds. Read the full press release here. #SaveHIVFunding https://t.co/WeEL2ah4ho
As we continue to call for a Nat'l PrEP Program some @CDCNPIN officials believe that PrEP is not necessary to end the HIV epidemic. Sullivan’s #CROI2024 research indicates that not scaling up PrEP means that new cases will continue to increase. #PrEPSaves

PrEP4All joined 1,103 organizations in urging Congress to reject a full-year continuing resolution that would cut HIV programs and to adopt the bipartisan Senate funding framework for FY24. #NDDUnited#SaveHIVFunding

"It is dangerous for patients, providers, and payers to allow Gilead marketing and other promotional activities that misleadingly imply that Descovy is a better PrEP formulation for all PrEP users simply because it is “newer” to dictate coverage policy."

“We are certainly a long way from seeing the Senate and the House come together to hash out which version [of the budget] moves forward. We’re hoping that our champions in Congress will step in for us and make sure that [budget] cuts don't go through.” — @ActivistJohnson
“We launched an ambitious plan to end HIV — the epidemic — by 2030. Proposed a new National PrEP Program to prevent the spread of HIV.” - @POTUS at @HRC National Dinner.
We call on Congress to fully fund a National PrEP Program and finally end the epidemic.
I 100% do NOT support a stopgap funding measure that dooms Ukrainians and turns our back on fighting authoritarianism in Eastern Europe. Shame on House Democrats for turning their backs on Ukraine, and a big fuck you to the Republicans creating this artificial funding crisis.
PrEP4All Exec. Dir. @ActivistJohnson notes that when drug companies are criticized for access and pricing issues, they deflect by touting their charitable donations, which represent “a very small percentage of their overall profits.” @TheBodyDotCom
