My letter to Minister Tanya Fir. We met at the #GGAward ceremony and I wanted to follow up with her in case she changes her mind.
Hope to hear from you soon @tanya_fir. The stakes have never been higher for queer and trans youth.
Appreciate the acknowledgment of my request to meet @ABDanielleSmith. Too bad we couldn’t discuss my letter over lunch, but technology is a wonderful thing.
Sent this response via email, but perhaps your staff who follow me here can flag it for you. I copied Minister Fir on this one as we met at the #GGAward ceremony.
Let me know what works for you. Thanks!
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a friend and prominent leader in Canada who championed human rights, justice and truth.”

Honoured to deliver the keynote during the United Church Conference at Cowan Heights United. Great to finally meet the head of the UC of Canada, The Right Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne. This is what Christianity looks like. #Amen 🙏
Congratulations to our co-founder @justbegemma on being the first transgender person to receive a #GGAward in Commemoration of the Persons Case.
What a wonderful group of recipients to share this honour with. Thank you all for your advocacy.
Today marks the 95th anniversary of #PersonsDay! #GGSimon presented the Persons Case Award to 12 Canadians who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of gender equality.

Indigenous leaders of our province have led the way when it comes to preserving the history of the Beothuk in Newfoundland and Labrador. It was with great pride that I joined them to unveil this breathtaking statue and artwork that symbolizes the important Indigenous history.
Geoff Budden, the lead lawyer for the plaintiffs, told The Catholic Register that his clients view this development “as an excellent first step,” but they “wish us to do everything we possibly can do to see that they get the full compensation.”

So dang proud of the work that @justbegemma is doing in the fight for gender justice in Canada. @ABDanielleSmith, what say you?

There’s a war on trans bodies in North America. Because I’m no longer at war with myself, I’ll keep fighting for others.
Yesterday was #NationalComingOutDay. So is today and every other day.
Take a good look. Don’t like what you see? The closet I came out of is free. 🇨🇦🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
The UCP policy resolutions are designed to continue to purge and erase trans people and their very existence. If passed, these would be some of the most hateful and discriminatory laws in the world.

When the Pope visits a country rocked by abuse, he follows the same playbook: he meets with victims, expresses shame, and promises change. He employed these tactics in Portugal 2023, in Canada 2022, Ireland 2018, in Chile 2018 & the US 2015. (https://t.co/cPTy5YhmEd)
@ABDanielleSmith it resembles the trans flag—same sky, different view. From above distinctions fade. Beauty remains. Like rights it should be recognized even if it’s not seen the same. A leader rises above. Calls for a new day where all have space to shine. #TransIsBeautiful
Well deserved recognition for our founder @justbegemma! Thank you for all you do!
In addition to it being LGBTQ History Month, today is #NationalComingOutDay. Let's work together towards creating a society where no one feels like they have to stay in.
