thanks.
( he heads for the door, turning around halfway when he reaches it. he jerks a thumb over his shoulder, other hand fixing a smoke between his lips. )
i'll be out here. wanna join me?
mhm. ( scooping one out of her bag in a well trained motion, aiming for a beat before tossing it towards him. ) I guess youβve trusted me, I should probably do the same.

my lighter. do you have one?
( he's *still staring her down, despite his hands being all up in his pockets. he sighs, finally breaking eye contact to look down at himself, just in case he's missing something. )
just trust me. s'no good.
( noting when he halts his rummaging, a brow ticking upward. ) were you lookinβ for something? ( refusing to be the one who breaks the contact, eyes remain locked as she plops herself into a seat. seems like theyβre gonna be here a while. ) what else could you say?
( he's still maintaining eye contact, arms crossed over his chest. he's never one to shy away from staring, and this isn't any exception. )
you could say that.
( she canβt help but linger too long in a stare. where most would panic to fill the space, or apologize for their rudeness, she simply allowed herself the stretched silence before quipping. ) what, did you leave it out too long or something?
I could be waiting you out, waiting until you have . . . ( brows furrowing, a crease forming between them as she squints. ) what do you mean you have none of those? a soul?
i have none of those things to sign over, so i think i'm safe.
( he flashes an easy smile. carding a set of fingers through his unruly hair to push it out of his eyes. )
( she scans the length of his frame, gaze catching occasionally as she analyses his body language, expecting even a touch of tension; surprised when she finds one none. ) what if I ask you to sign over your house? your car? your soul? what if Iβm an evil mastermind?
( a roll of laughter bubbles out from her. not entirely amused, not entirely affectionate, somewhere in the middle. ) after we do your hair. what am I gonna get you to do for me, huh?
( drawing back to gauge his expression, a slow smile creeping along her lips. ) I have a bit of everything, I like to mix and match myself. a little feminine, a little masculine, a little bit of nothing at all. you just let me know.
( he tilts his head, curiosity piqued by the offer. )
anything of yours, hm? i don't know that half and half would look good on me. maybe if i'm feeling more venturous next time?
( pleased with her assessment, granting herself a nod of approval for the silent conversation sheβd been having in her head. ) we could always do half and half. and, yβknow, if you ever want to borrow anything of mine . . .
made me feel very ambiguous.
( he's just happy to stand here and let her fuck with his hair. )
i wanna keep the red. think it suits me. next time? next time i might go blue.
oh yeah? what about it? ( the edge of her mouth quirks upward as she examines where the color fades from the curled strands of his hair, mentally making a list of everything theyβd need. ) do you want to keep the red, or do something new?
