Many have asked why I have been so silent these past weeks. I'm heartbroken to say my beautiful, darling wife passed away on Thursday. She had held my heart in her hand from the first moment I saw her and we shared 36 wonderful years together. She had bravely battled cancer with courage and fortitude for many years yet still never lost the ability to light up a room with her beautiful smile, her wonderful sense of humour and her laughter. It was right outside our door and had appeared from nowhere in a clump of dry weeds. Red roses were my wife’s favorite flower. She wore 3 in her hair at our wedding and carried a bouquet of red roses. I had asked her to send me a sign before she passed to say she was ok. It must have been sent by her.

BREAKING: REAL LEADERSHIP! Mayor Zohran Mamdani announces that he will not accept an 18% increase to his own salary despite the City Council approving it.

And his reason was absolutely perfect...

"I will not accept a pay raise," Mamdani told reporters. "I just... I haven't knocked on anyone's door in New York City and they've said their concern is that the mayor makes too little. That's not my concern."

He added that he wants that money to instead flow into "the pockets of those who are struggling in the city."

The City Council voted to raise their own salaries from $148,500 to $175,500 and the mayor's pay by 18%, or from $258,750 to $305,800. Zohran's refusal to accept that additional money proves once again that he's laser-focused on serving his constituents.

Contrast this genuine commitment to public service instead of personal enrichment to Donald Trump's behavior. This President has used his office to dramatically inflate his own wealth and that of his cronies and family. In 2024, his net worth was roughly $2.3 billion. Now it's close to $6.5 billion.

Here we see the true difference between Democratic Socialists and Republicans laid out in stark detail. The former are devoted to fixing our broken system and uplifting working class people. The latter are concerned solely with personal wealth and power.
