We, the floor staff of Amherst Cinema, have formed an independent union, Amherst Cinema Workers United (ACWU). We ask community members and groups to call and email Amherst Cinema and ask that management provide voluntary recognition of ACWU.
Friends and supporters: we will be having a small rally outside Amherst Cinema tomorrow at 9am to kick off our FIRST DAY OF BARGAINING!! Weโd love to see you there! Bring signs to show management that the community has our backs as we work towards our first contract!
BREAKING: WE HAVE A CONTRACT! Yesterday, our members voted overwhelming to ratify our first union contract. Weโre so proud of our unionโs solidarity and commitment, and we could not have done it without our community standing with us during our strike. 1/
We want to take a moment to thank the community for all the love and support ๐ for those who asked: We are currently building our shop with merch that you can wear while seeing a movie! Stay tuned ๐ #Solidarity#UnionsForAll#union#workerpower
We are proud to be forming part of the labor movement and unionizing revival. But this is just a beginning. We look forward to having a seat at the table to bargain a contract that upholds the safety, security, and dignity of all ACWU members. Stay tuned for more information!
We're experiencing an ongoing labor revival: worker- and youth-led campaigns, supported and flanked by organized labor, socialists, and community supporters. This is not your fatherโs labor movement ๐น
