@winter_canada The earth's climate is a global issue. How much do you really think this tax is helping on a global scale? We still heat our homes in the winter and electricity is still the most expensive utility in Ontario.
@MaskedTeacherNL Wearing a mask contains your germs so you don't spread them to others. Washing your hands and not touching your face are more effective at protecting you from other people's germs. Be careful not to hamper your immune system. Like any anti-virus, it needs regular updates.
@knows_jill Why can't there be a happy medium party? One that supports people's rights but still understands basic math. Finance is finance regardless of the scale. Try managing your personal finances following the liberal gvt spending model. You can't spend more than you make. Why do they?
@Teachers__Unite The FAQ section of the 24-25 OCDSB budget states that 80-85% of its budget goes to employee salaries and benefits. It doesn't take advanced math skills to see how much $ is left over for the kids after other expenses related to buildings, utilities...etc.

@Maplegirl66@Teachers__Unite Almost all teachers are also parents. Those aren't two independent groups. Admin doesn't push discipline anymore because they're afraid of being sued or dragged through the news.
@safe4learning@Teachers__Unite Equity should mean that an offense carries a predictable consequence regardless of who the perpetrator is. Their race and/or gender should be irrelevant. Proactively helping some kids become less likely to (re)offend is a separate issue from actions having consequences.
@CTVToronto That's not new so find a new person to blame. I remember it being so hot one year, the teacher was bringing us outside to sit under a tree and giving us freezies until one kid complained about being allergic to grass. That was in the mid 80's.
@Darkangel75@JBradshaw01 New and relevant content? Does the curriculum content of math and English change from year to year? Isn't the point of this to ensure that every school has covered the same content up to the gr 3, 6 & 9 check points? Hence being standardization tests?
@globalnewsto I fully support every effort to improve animal welfare laws. I worry that a registration requirement might drive the creation of a "black market". People who care enough to provide a standard of care are the ones to follow laws such as this. Bad people will hide what they do.
@trudat2020@Teachers__Unite Parents are not necessarily certified teachers. Does that mean that the safety and security of kids is being compromised at home? Or maybe that being certified isn't necessary to teach?
@ESL_fairy @ToddSmithPC Mathematically, any expenditure that doesn't directly earn a financial return is an expense, not an investment. Money and budgets are simple math, not romantic ideologies. No matter what you want, the math still has to work. Why do teachers oppose teaching kids $ mgmt?
@RevCoachD@Teachers__Unite How do none of you understand that it doesn't matter who is in power. You want money that just doesn't exist. To give you more, something else has to be cut. Gvt spending is exactly the same as your personal finances. You can't spend more than you make.
@osstf No level of funding will make teachers inherently know that grading an autistic kid on their ability to make idle conversation with strangers to demonstrate language skills, isn't a reasonable expectation.
@MickeyCootes@Teachers__Unite Autistic kids can't fake being "neurodivergent". That's what makes them neurodivergent. Maybe take a hot second to learn about it before setting ridiculous expectations and assignment rubrics that assess how non/typical they are.
@Teachers__Unite You require and supply safety goggles to play badminton indoors and then complain about not being able to afford art supplies. Not stopping the parents that can afford to provide school supplies would also take some pressure off your budgets.
@CBCNews I ordered something and set it to be delivered to my receiving dept at work. CP stuck a prefilled card in the mailbox anyway. I went to Shoppers and they wouldn't give me the parcel because my driver's license doesn't show that I live at my office address.
@Teachers__Unite No personal responsibility is a social problem not limited to kids or schools. "Its your job to watch where I was going and what I was doing, not mine" is the mindset of most people. Cars, bikes and pedestrians in the roadway being a prime example.
@john_smithson3@Teachers__Unite There are countless posts from teachers about the number of un-certified or "unqualified" people currently teaching classes for lower pay than a seasoned teacher. Perhaps the staffing/recruitment problem doesn't have anything to do with salary.
