Myth: Released mosquitoes will bite and transmit disease. 🦟🦟🦟
Fact: Mosquito-borne diseases are transmitted through the bite of female mosquitoes. Only male mosquitoes are sterilized and released into the wild. #MosquitoControl#SVGMosquito#SIT

🦟 West Nile Virus Detected in Rosemead 🦟
The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (SGVMVCD) has confirmed the first West Nile Virus (WNV) detection of the year in Rosemead. The positive mosquito sample was collected on September 23rd.
West Nile Virus is spread by infected mosquitoes. There’s no cure or vaccine, and symptoms, like fever, headache, and rash, can be serious.
✅ Protect yourself & your neighborhood by:
Dumping standing water weekly (gutters, buckets, etc.)
Maintaining pools, spas, and ponds
Refreshing pet dishes and bird baths
Using insect repellent outdoors
Reporting neglected pools to SGVMVCD
Together, we can fight the bite!

It’s a GIANT MOSQUITO...NOT!🫢
Crane flies are always mistaken for giant mosquitoes, but they are harmless and pose no threat to humans. A mosquito will not be any bigger than the tip of your finger.
