@ivymycin Had a colleague compare my braids I had in to ‘carpet’ and tell me it’s ‘weird’. Honestly going to work for us comes with added dehumanisation and trauma

I saw a patient with currently undiagnosed but symptomatically very likely endometriosis. Every month before her period she is in extreme pain and profusely vomits. Due to this she becomes suicidal each time. Every. Month.

We are losing women to this condition.

Howled tears in a corner for 3hrs, whilst senior staff (who’ve never met me before) decided to stop me sitting my exam based on one piece of info they were given - that I turned up in a wheelchair. I feel discriminated against, my lifelong, stable condition totally misunderstood.

Although the med school was aware I was doing today’s exam whilst an inpatient, when they saw me in my wheelchair they immediately deemed me too unwell - too unwell to sit at a computer for a few hours - just because I was in a wheelchair.
