Ed O'Neill reveals the exact day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, he was cut by the Steelers, got blackout drunk with strangers in a dive bar, and was pulled over half naked by police at 3 AM
"I went in the bar, it was like 2:00 in the afternoon and there were a couple of locals. I order a beer, they got the TV up high on the wall, and the news comes on showing Armstrong walking on the moon. That's when I got cut. And I'm thinking, 'Well, somebody had a good day.'"
"Then they went to sports, and of course it's Pittsburgh so they go, 'Linebacker Ed O'Neill released today from the Steelers,' and that's my picture. These guys in the bar look and they go, 'You're Ed O'Neill!' And they said, 'Your money's no good here.' Now they're all buying me drinks."
"I end up at 3:00 in the morning in some car with some girl with a state trooper pulling me over. I don't even know my name at this point. I think I had my shirt off, almost naked, and I'm driving."
"He looks at my driver's license and says, 'Did you get cut today from Pittsburgh?' I said, 'Yep.' He said, 'Miss, can you drive?' She said, 'Yeah, I'll take him.' And he let me go, because in Pittsburgh, they love them Steelers. Even if you got cut, you're still part of the team."
