Aside from the fact that Tory governments since 2010 had probably the biggest impact on family finances given austerity, falling wages and interest rate increasesβ¦
It ignores that Tory governments including Thatcherβs appointed union representation to the BOE

"Outsourcing is a racket.. we're here today to say the era of outsourcing is over. We're coming for the multinational companies who've been eating our public services alive.. they've created a 2 tier workforce.."
@RMTunion's Eddie Dempsey at #TUC26 on the scourge of outsourcing.
"Is public ownership a bad outcome? You have, as you've outlined, explored trying to keep it private. When that fails is public ownership ok?"
Reynolds: "There's nothing ideological about this. I would like the steel industry to be in private hands. That is my preference"
50% of all recessions in Britain since 1970 have been the result of fossil fuel price shocks. π€―
And the next economic shock is coming. The only way out is MORE green energy.

@lester_hay55123@AaronBastani Do you think that would grow the economy enough to offset the inflation & worldwide disruption caused by climate change and its effects
A reminder.
The latest HMRC figures show that in 2023β24:
30,400 estates paid inheritance tax
That was 4.72% of UK deathsβfewer than one in twenty
Therefore, roughly 95% of estates paid none.
Weβre talking about a tax which affects only the wealthiest estates.
Inheritance tax is paid by less than 5% of estates and couples can already transfer up to Β£1m in property tax-free.
Abolishing it would be regressive, unmeritocratic and a bad use of Β£9bn.
@GildaYork66@georgeeaton As soon as itβs been inherited itβs had zero tax paid on it until inheritance tax kicks in because tax is paid by individuals not families π

Hard to articulate how grim this is really. Brave life-saving volunteers having to hide who they are so the very worst people in the world don't attack them for not letting migrants drown. Racism is an illness.
