I never used Twitter/X actively until the day after 7/13 when someone tried to take President Trump away from us and decided to get involved. Today I voted for him the 3rd time. And I made this video in honor of “The Man”
Let’s restore the Republic. Happy Election Day Nov 5 2024.
Not many people these days know that the British Empire was the driving force behind ending the vast majority of global slavery.
Slavery or de facto slavery was standard practice throughout the world from the dawn of civilization until a few hundred years ago. It is even discussed at length in the Bible, for example.
BREAKING:
The U.S. just announced that it will lead an international coalition of 10 navies against the Houthis in Yemen.
Looks like they Houthis chose to have other people raise their sons and daughters.
The U.S. Navy is coming…
At the outbreak of WW2, Standing at the train station in Blackburn, in her borrowed frock, her trim figure and high heels, seemed stocking enhanced what she hoped was her best look. Was a fun loving girl saying goodbye to her beau.
There were hundreds on the platform that day, as eager young lads conscripted to fight, left their hometown under a cloud of steam as they hugged and spun round their girlfriends in an excited anticipation of a glorified war.
Elsie looked deep into Eddie's big soulful eyes, overwhelmed by his Tyrone Power good looks. She kissed him goodbye, not knowing what the future held.
Blackouts, bombs, and forced to work in a munitions factory, rationed food, and taking cover in an Anderson shelter, wasn't the future Elsie had planned for herself. Walking down streets of rubble that used to be homes, became the norm and she never went anywhere without her gas mask. No one did.
The weeks turned into months and the months turned into years.
It was quite strange only ever seeing old men in the streets
Though they themselves, veterans of WW1, dutifully volunteered in The Home Guard and other fields
Her friend Jean, caught in a bomb blast died in the prettiest dress she ever owned, though you wouldn't know it as she lay there in the rubble, living only streets away from the ROF factory the enemy was trying to hit..
More people lost their homes, their loved ones, and families took them in , shared what they had , which wasn't much.
Some where lucky, they came home from war early, but paid the price...blinded or amputees out on the streets, started to be more common place.
There was no PTSD, If you shook uncontrollably, got the sweats after night after night on the anti aircraft guns, you were a coward. Sympathy was thin on the ground.
When The Telegram boy arrived on his bike, mothers in their wrap round pinnies stood at their front doors of their terraced houses, hoping and praying he would pass them by. The news inside was a sure thing that their beloved son was missing in action or dead..
.
Too many families had to to face the unthinkable, their children died before they did.
Elsie's beau came home. He left Blackburn a slender young boy and came home a man she hardly recognized. The soulful dreamy eyes she remembered had a strange distance to them.
She was lucky he came home.
I know all this because Elsie was my mother. She was older when she had me, so unusually I have first hand accounts of those times .
She told me many things about the war. She wanted me to remember how dreadful it was and how it should never be repeated.
We try to show some respect for those that gave their all, we have a day for it The nearest Sunday to the 11th hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
It almost seems as though they're trying to erase the significance of this day.
Labour MPs with no poppies in for or certain crowds, ironic really when you think
If we'd lost the war, these certain crowds would never have been able to flourish in this country for generations as they have.
We're taught to respect their worship, their beliefs, their important dates .
It would mean such a lot if they respected ours.
