Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Iran:
“Remember that one can be against a hateful regime, as is the case with the Iranian regime … and at the same time be against an unjustified, dangerous military intervention outside of international law.”
@Scienceyoufools@rachelmillward I don't believe that someone's right to safety should be limited by their nationality.
We all live in the world and it's a much nicer place when it's not being filled with hate, fear and division.
@Scienceyoufools@rachelmillward So you're willing to remove the rights of one group because of the actions of a small minority of the individuals. Which other groups would you do this to? All men? All police officers?
P.s. No robust data supports the claim that asylum seekers have a disproportionate CSA rate
@Scienceyoufools@rachelmillward You can't pin all the problems in the country on a tiny minority of the population who are some of the most disenfranchised, looked down upon in society.
Look to the yachts not the dinghies.
To be clear, what this shows is that the proportion of social tenancies given to non-UK citizens is almost exactly the same as the proportion of non-UK citizens in the UK.
They are no more reliant on this system than UK citizens are.
About 30,000 new social tenancies were given to non-UK nationals last year. Today's CORE data is the first where they have published the individual nationality breakdown:
@jay_evans65720@rachelmillward I'm just trying to understand your point. If you'd like to remove the rights of this group of individuals because a small percentage pose a danger, which other groups are you willing to do that to?
I note and disregard another unnecessary personal insult.
@Revoltsuk@rachelmillward But they won't be able to offer those things because they're not allowed to work, are they? That's kind of the entire point of this post.
@Dannythefink@owenjonesjourno For clarity, here's the whole section.
What it doesn't say: economic growth of any kind is bad.
What it does say: pitching economic growth as the "solution to all our problems" at the expense of planetary limits isn't the way forward. We should also consider other measures too
@JocastaMoney To be clear, this is taken out of context. The point being made is that if someone had one of these conditions AND a terminal illness, they could still access the same measures with proper clinical oversight.
Fwiw, I neither actively pro or anti this legislation.
@Tom_Nicholas Particularly infuriating when they're all tripping over each other to make the EXACT SAME points rather than actually having a discussion.
@isaac_kh He's asked if something is Green Party policy. He tells the truth and then adds his personal opinion.
Not clear how him lying or avoiding the question would help. People are fed up with political leaders throwing out policies their party decided on because they feel like it.
The truth: we need migration.
The problem: too many politicians are terrified to say it.
Why? They're led by a) toxicity of the charlatans & b) wealthy media organisations who demand these useful distractions rather than us talking about inequality.
Reject it. Draw the line.
Independent experts today urged the UK 🇬🇧 not to ban the “direct action” group @Pal_action as a terrorist organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000.
“Acts of protest that damage property, but are not intended to kill or injure people, should not be treated as #terrorism.”
