@rwpopulist@xwanyex The words punish and wasted are relative in this context. It just means that you are "punished" in the sense that you are missing out on potential gains
@rwpopulist@xwanyex You have it backwards. If you want a tax that is "direct and uniform", that would be the LVT.
If you build something on your lot or improve it, your property tax bill goes up, but your LVT would not.
@Necrofamicon@CameronCorduroy This will just kick the can down the road. Even with the tax increase, SS will still run out of money before anyone under 35 is ready to retire

@turribledood@Noahpinion This could only solve the problem if they would invest it like every other pension in the world.
But instead they are going to use the money to subsidize federal deficit spending and it will run out again in another decade or so
@joejoe419723966@Stephen72549984@AIfortheenotme@xwanyex The only way to do what? Completely get rid of all crime?
Like I said, increasing productivity and decreasing crime is a pretty good outcome even if we donβt 100% eliminate every single crime
@rwpopulist@xwanyex What are you even saying?
If the land is already being used productively then you wonβt be incentivized by the LVT.
Im guessing what you are saying is extremely rare. But to the extent it does happen, it doesnβt counter the argument at all.
@xwanyex Why wouldnβt the owner just sell the lot to a developer?
But even if that does happen, isnβt that still preferable to the lot being vacant? The city could build a park or library or something there.

@PuckFupett69 The funnier move would be to make AI deep fakes but use real Trump quotes. Then if they tried to sue, they would have to litigate whether Trump said he likes to grab women in the pussy.
They could do the same for Paxton
