@jesscataylr @neokuudere They dont “want” to replace artists. They’re working towards developing artificial general intelligence, and one consequence of that will inevitably be “replacing” unimaginative artists who relied solely on their mechanical execution skills and not much else

If you read this. I highly encourage you to at least think past the “AI guys are anti human we need to stop them”. That’s no good. The economic incentives all point towards AI becoming more impactful, not less. As I said, you need to be figuring out ways to negotiate a better deal for the people, given that trajectory..

@paulmurphy_TD The genie is already out of the bottle. Their internal models are already far ahead of what is publicly available. There’s no stopping this. You need to first accept that though. Then we can start thinking about how to make it better for all of us

I also believe that your approach of outright rejecting AI and pretending we should or could stop it is actually playing into these oligarchs hands. They don’t want you to be planning for the future, instead they’re perfectly happy for you to engage with this at the most surface level way possible.

There’s historical precedent too. Photography offers the closest historical parallel, once cameras made likeness cheap, painters who sold mainly technical rendering lost work, while painting moved toward expression, concept, and style that cameras could not easily supply.

Humans instinctively have a desire for novelty. With AI we won’t tolerate slop and therefore the people who are good at finding new ways to express things through this new paradigm will win. You guys are way off the mark
