In 2025, can politicians no longer get away with absurd claims about how schools teach children that Churchill was bad and to be ashamed of Britain's past. Name one of the 30,000 UK schools that does this? Slanders of teacher integrity for political points should be challenged.

This Korean school, that does end of school national exams yet has departments like AI and Contents, that claims to explicitly teach creativity and has companies in demand for its students, is totally missing from the UK system and speaks to our collective imaginative failure.

Fascinating visit to Western Academy Beijing! A school at the cutting edge, where the underpinning philosophy is visible in day-to-day lessons, excellent teaching and school designs that facilitate learning. As @sjtylr eloquently put it to me “our spaces communicate intention.”

Far from being a panacea, technology, whether it be smart phones or #AI, is damaging the potential of young people. Nurturing concentration and attention is a forgotten but golden habit that needs to be re-nurtured!

Schools need to stop labeling, over-protecting and lowering our expectations of the students under our care. This approach fails them. Instead, give them experiences that challenge them, but ultimately build up their resilience and capacities. My piece:
