@PaulHembo Why do you say he's a natural outfielder? I don't believe he played OF in the minors and only has about 50 games in CF in 2016. So you just believe his tools lend themselves well to OF?
@PhilsTailgate Now let's do xFIP:
Luzardo - 1.96
Sanchez - 2.12
Painter - 2.99
Nola - 3.04
All top 25 in baseball.
Opposing teams' BABIP vs Phillies: .354, highest in baseball, and also would be the all-time record for any team, ever.
It's been frustrating, but it's also very unlucky.
@PlatinumKey13 Watched him a lot in Philly - elite stuff, he'll have some really good stretches. Main issue is the role - Soto wanted to be a closer in Philly, but did not do well in that role. More of a 6th/7th inning guy ideally. Can be frustrating. Might do better in a smaller market though.
@TheWARmonger_ Hey WM, would you be interested in being interviewed for a video on this catch? I run a small baseball YT channel (1.6K followers), and I would love to have your expertise to help round out a video I'm working on. Feel free to DM, thanks man 👍
@Matt_Winkelman Aside from the obvious, what else have they driven that's wrong? Not familiar with their minor league system, is that what you're referring to?
@iFeeILikeKobe GSW will have his Early Bird rights, so yes, they can essentially match any offer.
I don’t think JTA would get up to this range, but the max for Early Bird contracts will be around $10M per year for 4 years.

@iamgarrity Chriss is another interesting option to cut. Good point.
I imagine GSW would prefer to keep Chriss over guys like Poole, Wanamaker or Smiley, if I had to guess. But I’m sure your scenario is being considered as well.
@mc_swaggletooth That’s fair! There are cases to be made for a couple of those back-end guys to be cut - Smiley, Poole, Mulder, even Wanamaker.
I figured I would skip that debate for this thread, but that’s a very fair argument. His clock is definitely ticking.
@trinity71394 Yes, I should’ve mentioned that as well. 2.5 months is a long time in the NBA, lots of stuff could change the Warriors’ roster situation.
Trades, injuries, suspensions, league policy, etc.
However, assuming JTA keeps playing like this, I imagine he would have a very similar value to House, if not a bit more.
That would make for a very interesting negotiation between the Warriors FO and JTA.
