George Eastman’s patent on the roll-film camera, granted 135 years ago, is a great reminder of the origin of some of our most important devices. Eastman’s innovation (aka “Kodak”) clearly changed the world – and without it, we may not have captured the iconic lunar imagery of Apollo 11. Not only did we use the rugged Hasselblad 500EL camera, with Kodak film, but we also carried a Kodak Stereo Close-Up camera aboard Eagle. If life has taught me anything, it’s to never forget how we got to where we are now.
