@ssgranor@NateSilver538 I agree. He's trying to apply a clearly defined mathematical concept to a question that is purely a matter of opinion. It's weird.
@MattHaneySF Be positive. You were smart to get the first vax you could. You are well-protected from serious illness and death. You can resume your life one month earlier. And there will almost certainly be booster options available before flu season this year.
@MattHaneySF Ugh. Don’t even get me started on this again. Finally did get an appt. after wasting about 2 days searching around. Pretty ridiculous that California could not figure out how to schedule more than 2 days ahead.
@TeriRWilliams @cdclune @GavinNewsom I was making a theoretical point in a discussion. Sorry it was not clear. Twitter is pretty bad for this sort of thing, but it's what we have. No hard feelings.
@TeriRWilliams @cdclune @GavinNewsom Even if Newsom decided to export 50% of vaccines to other countries, how is would that be relevant to a discussion about the appointment systems in California?
@TeriRWilliams @cdclune @GavinNewsom Newsom is governor of California, not the world. If you're making a point that US should be exporting more vaccines, I'm sure we could have an interesting discussion. But seems like that should be tweeted toward our elected officials in Congress.
@ded@GavinNewsom I've found GoodRX to be useless. I searched just now for San Jose, and it shows many CVS and Rite Aid have appointments available. If you click "Book Appointment", it just takes you to the website where you need to search again, and inevitably there are no appointments.
@rescuemom15 @Dm95556ca @GavinNewsom See my previous comments about North California. I get there are places where there is availability, especially in the South. The problem is communication where & when.
@rescuemom15 @Dm95556ca @GavinNewsom I'm not saying the rollout has been a total failure. The scheduling is bad. Other aspects have been good. I am not pro or anti @GavinNewsom. He's done some things well, and others poorly. Specifically, his communication around vax appts. and availability has been tone deaf.
@rescuemom15 @Dm95556ca @GavinNewsom CA is by far the most populous state. Look at % population vaxed to see how it's doing relative to everyone else.

@TeriRWilliams @cdclune @GavinNewsom So your defense is "it's worse elsewhere"? Good leadership isn't just about cheering the victories. It's about focusing on what isn't working, and making it better.
@M87151217@GavinNewsom I have spent hours looking at the sites. CVS is by far the best. Safeway, Walgreens & Rite-Aid all a mess in terms of usability. Would be if nice the govt. provided more comprehensive info to help people find the doses instead of just high-fiving about expanded eligibility.
