@naserturabi@adamitec@_petermason@EalingCouncil Congestion dropping in March 2020? No idea why that could be🤷🏻♂️ you’re trying to manipulate data that has no baseline. LTNs are making air quality terrible for some residents. It’s not an environmental scheme - just redirects traffic onto bigger residential roads whilst making ££
@CultOfCyclists@RBourchier@David_Millican Cyclists increasingly weaving in and out of traffic, running red lights and riding on pavements. As a pedestrian I would say cyclists have everything to do with it.
@RBourchier@_petermason@David_Millican@labour Now you understand the pain of our council making changes without consultation? I’m not anti-cycle, just anti-unnecessary pollution hotspots like the one that borders 4 schools on Northfield Ave/Windmill Rd. Let’s actually try and improve our climate, not make the Council money
@PaulConlanUK As a resident of the Walpole Ward I couldn’t feel less represented by you and don’t feel you for a second understand our problems or care about them 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@BetterEaling I live next to the boundary of recently suspended LTN 21... if the rat-runs exist like you mention, they’re barely noticeable. I drove my partner to the physio-the journey time was cut in half with access down Leighton Road, no more pointless engine idling 🎉
@stuntbutt@darrenmoore Also you’re sinking low just like the ‘Lycra brigade’ digs that Pros hate. Arguments are bitter, but if we actually get back to what is important here (the planet), we might get somewhere. This LTN scheme is not fit and the council need everyone’s help to devise something better
@stuntbutt@darrenmoore To name a few...Back long-term WFH schemes &local open office space so commutes are walkable, more bike storage for high density residential, better policing of the cyclists that break laws. Engage w. residents, not punish them before researching what might make them drive less.
@explosivefruit @darrenmoore Absolutely. I’m a labour voter who wants green change. Haven’t tweeted in years but this scheme, though well-intentioned, has been implemented horrifically. Don’t believe it’ll truly benefit climate + hypocritical council are stunting rate people will change their minds on cars
@darrenmoore So far from the truth😭 many against the scheme are predominantly cyclists but can’t bear the bitter debates. You made up your mind before considering how our society fully functions, meaning the divide will only grow and the change toward a better climate will only be slower 🙁
Moved home from S.Ealing to near Leighton LTN, obv needed car trips. Journey from bollards to home typically 20 secs. This shows approx 3100% increase in engine running time. Polluting vans many of us rely on atm for delivery/shopping have this too. Hard to see climate benefit😕
@psimonk@LivesNye@darrenmoore Don’t see how we can know the long term given the only trial has been mid-2 lockdowns. Local data then based on no concept of normalised traffic, whilst remaining cars are merely redirected. Admire your faith, but no closer to joining the dark side of the force yet. Take care.
@psimonk@LivesNye@darrenmoore It’s obvious it has issues. I wouldn’t say ‘wrong’ as the vital core have been well mannered & trying to get through to the council that this is not fit. (not w. vandalism!!) The destructive often shout the loudest. I only hope I help you see there is more to it than that.
@psimonk@LivesNye@darrenmoore Sorry if that’s how this came across. Attempting to say ‘Anti’ views can be hijacked with this vandalism, unfortunately too often. You must know Anti LTN groups don’t agree and it doesn’t help the cause. But that in any case, council have been awful & do not want a discussion.
@MarkEccleston1@LivesNye@darrenmoore Hopefully more folks will realise we don’t deny climate change, but that the ratio of real, tangible climate benefit from LTNs to mass disruption of essential tasks means they ultimately aren’t fit for purpose, and actual Consultation would’ve helped. Enjoy your weekend👋🏻
