A 22-year-old nursing student at KGMU, Divyanshi Yadav, has died after falling ill and later reportedly testing positive for dengue. This raises serious questions about the circumstances surrounding her illness and the institutional response.
According to her classmates, she developed fever after clinical duty in the CVTS ward on 11 Sept. After two days of fever, she continued to suffer from severe fatigue, weakness and loss of appetite, with very little food intake for several days.
On 16 Sept, she reportedly visited OPD after informing her faculty and submitted an application. On 17 Sept, she was taken to Trauma at around 8:30 AM. Her classmates say they requested blood tests and IV fluids because of her condition.
Students have raised serious allegations regarding the institutional response.
PRINCIPAL: Students allege that the Principal failed to take accountability regarding the incident.
DEAN: Students allege that the Dean made a remark comparing nursing students to “vaginal infections."
The demand is simple: Resignation of Principal and Dean of Nursing, medical care, communication, academic/attendance pressure and institutional response.
A student's health and life must be treated with seriousness and dignity.
