@Jontafkasi It can be really specific as well. My brand new ultegra, not a sound. But on some of the demo bikes I rode at the weekend, same calipers, lots of squealing. My older ultegra also developed a squeal, since cleaned and replaced discs and pads (not for the squeal), still there!
@Jontafkasi @PompeyCyclist@100Climbs Had them on demo and hire bike, finally treated myself last year on my main road bike, still got mechanical on rest. E gears are so much nicer π much more precise (without constant adjustment). But like most things, old tech works (when maintained), new tech just works better π
@Jontafkasi @fesshole I also think a lot of it has to do with those with better "people skills" find it easier to negotiate and demand more money. Techies in general are very bad at this, even when changing jobs.
Finally made it to 1250 blitz. I was playing really well last few days, although went a bit wrong yesterday. But good enough this morning to get past that barrier π #Chess https://t.co/PPVEj90nYo
Can't believe it, I missed a win with promotion to Knight, didn't even look, just went straight for the Queen!

@Jontafkasi @rogermerriman@DaveBikeSki Yeah definitely, my ride is between Ely and Cambridge, which is a fairly low grade single lane A road, but critically it's almost a straight uninterrupted run on the road with very few interruptions. So help from moving traffic. But if it's q'd I have to filter between lanes.
@billhulley@rogermerriman @Jontafkasi @DaveBikeSki Being from the fens, the main factor (ignoring my state of fitness or willingness to go fast) is definitely the wind. Can comfortably be 10 mins difference due to the wind. But, the main thing is these are all factors I can predict for before I set off π
@rogermerriman @Jontafkasi @DaveBikeSki It's interesting, in general I think I'm slower when there is heavy traffic as I tend to filter a bit slower. But I'm quickest when there is plenty of moving traffic v very quiet, due to natural draughting from passing vehicles π but I don't have many junctions on my route.
@Jontafkasi @MikeyCycling Personally I'm happy to wear a helmet, but definitely agree it shouldn't be forced. I don't expect it to protect me in a collision with a vehicle, but most of my crashes are self inflicted and my helmet has definitely done it's job. Plus I wear an aero lid for speed π
Officers from our Trains, Rail And Transport Squad are investigating an incident
Appears the driver of this train failed to give way to the more vulnerable road user

@mnogogotin @Jontafkasi @_Janey_J For me if the terrible false dichotomy of m&d pick me up in the car, or I walk home alone, like they can't think of any other options! π Poor kid being used like that
@_Janey_J Seriously? My mom or dad can pick me up in the car, but if it takes them too long, the only option is to walk home on her own! Kids should not be made to look stupid on behalf of their idiot/lazy parents!
@WilliamNB Happened to me not long after I started riding mtb clipless, one of the bolts came loose and couldn't figure out why I couldn't unclip. Lack of experience meant I didn't think to just yank my foot out. Bang!
