I have a deep lack of respect for people that drip condescension when explaining things to people. Especially when the people they are explaining to are genuinely trying to learn
This issue was resolved in 2020.
"You can come if you want" is passive, non-commital, no skin in the game, no yearning, shifts the vulnerability/burden of "wanting"
"I want you to come" is earnest, bears the vulnerability of "wanting", and actively expresses a desire.
