@SVPhillimore@SVPhillimore In this discussion you’re saying that ‘convicted violent criminal’ is what it takes to be a risk to children. The men that murdered their kids were not in this category because nuances of domestic abuse are way behond old fashioned violent stereotype of an abuser
@CoCoAwareness Thank you @CoCoAwareness lovely to hear. I’m raising my kids alone after escaping their abusive dad(he was just like yours) but often feel inadequate, that my son needs a positive male role model
@RSVP_West_Mids I’d never have reported with your help @rsvp bham police did everything they cld to stop me reporting, they intentionally blocked me at every turn, even senior officers. Took me 5 months of persistence before they recorded the crime.
After Rachel (@Dontlookback198) filed for divorce in 2011, her husband shot her in the leg. He later killed himself. She now campaigns for men and women who suffer #DomesticAbuse. The draft #DomesticAbuseBill aims to support victims & their families and pursue offenders.
I am so bored of men complaining that the Gillette advert is bad because it tells men they’re not good enough. Welcome to literally every advert ever targeted at women. At least you’re not good enough because of your actions. We’re just shit because of our skin/hair/weight/face.
Women don't kill 2 male partners or ex partners every week
Women don't cause 10 men a week to kill themselves because of the abuse women give them
1 in 4 men are not domestically abused by women
1 in 5 men are not sexually assaulted by women
It's not misogyny to tell the truth!
@ITVCentral So very true this story. They made it nigh impossible for me to report domestic and sexual abuse. I had to fight their disbelief and abusive officers to eventually get to make a statement and have an investigation started.
@ExpressandStar I made 3 statements to wmp about domestic & sexual abuse before they actually recorded the crimes and started an investigation. They tried to shut me down at every step. I was met with disbelieving officers & an abusive one along the way. Not remotely surprised by this news 😥
@JenLGilmour I’m not the favourite one. My twin was & still is. Even to be the favourite I’m not sure it feels good how can it when it’s at the expense of a sibling?
Now my son is the fave grandchild & my daughter’s not. He gets sad when granny exhalts him over his sister. He knows it’s wrong
@TinaTeapot27 @jessphillips U didn’t cause this. It’s not ur guilt. It’s not ur shame.
He is a grown man and was in a position of power. He chose to do what he did. The impact on his family is HIS doing. Not yours. it may have no impact on his family it may hurt them or it may set them free u cant mindread
@jessphillips @TinaTeapot27 And your evidence may sit on file and help another case in years to come....it’s impossible to know how this will pan out you just have to do what feels right for you and what you’ll be able to be at peace with when you look back in years to come, hope this helps
@jessphillips @TinaTeapot27 Hello, what choice will allow you to move forward peacefully? How do you know he’s not done this to many others before but the evidence threshold wasn’t reached.... the addition of your statement could result in justice for many. And if your case doesn’t proceed u did what u cld
@lolly1980s I feel for you. I’ve had no maintenance this month. He never obeys court orders, think he’s above the law & gets pleasure from still being able to harm kids & I. The law allows it. Hope you’ve now got yours 🤞
@HMIProbation I was lucky my ex’s DV programme spotted that he was using it to gain access to children and further perpetrate #Domesticabuse They recognised he had no intention of changing. The evidence from the dvpp enabled courts to protect us. Not all programmes are so skilful #bbcpanorama
@rightsofwomen@JolyonMaugham I called your helpline desperately two years ago when I was in a similar position - I called 6 times a day every single day for months. I never got through. Not even once 😥 I wish I had
Sad indictment of our society holding such little value of women & the underlying acceptance of domestic abuse. Two women are brutally murdered and the suspect gets protected and hidden.
@Sammieb1980 Not offended at all. Just pointing out how this is often the language of perpetrators in court when trying to justify and defend their behaviour. Let’s label abuse as abuse instead of skirting around it!
@Sammieb1980 Objecting to phrase toxic relationship. Its often used by perps & their law teams in court to deny abuse & imply dual culpability. It’s either abusive or not. What do u mean by toxic?
