hey friends! our first (and possibly only) hometown show of the year is a relaxing afternoon at the local library. see you there? @ Johnson City Public Library https://t.co/xw70p1W35n
parties aside, this is such a perfect song for a night like this one, especially after a year like this one. make sure you check out @thebandjoseph’s original version(s) of this tune (it’s called “NYE”).
and, as always, thanks to bets for singing with me. (full song in thread.)
the wife and i have been playing this cover live for years now, but getting to see it come to life in #hamilfilm gave it such beautiful new context, and we just had to record our tribute. thanks @Lin_Manuel and @leslieodomjr for this incredible song. @HamiltonMusical#hamilton
so, i haven’t really *done* twitter since the phones-with-actual-buttons days, but i’ve been thinking about how my life isn’t chaotic enough as it is, so i thought i’d give this thing another shot.
all that to say, how does this work? any pointers would be appreciated.
@michaelgungor I do wonder, though, whether there’s a difference between enjoying what you’re playing and enjoying that you’re playing it. An analogue: there’s a difference between people who really like to share their ideas through conversation and those who just like to hear themselves talk.
@michaelgungor As a member of a new jazz fusion jam band, I’ve caught myself having thoughts like this in a proactively defensive way. I know MM is a criticism of the genre, so I try to guard myself and my band mates against it. This post is making me reconsider the issue.
@benwrightish Poorly phrased in places, I think, and the tone dips into a bit of the usual bragging, but at least I can get behind this general sentiment. The last few sentences in particular made me not entirely uncomfortable about my citizenship.
This is going to be a unique evening. We’ll be sharing the stage at @ETSUWesley this Thursday night (7:30pm) with our dear friend and bagpiper extraordinaire, @AndrewPatrickH1 (who doesn’t use Twitter anymore). Free with a food pantry donation. You should join us.
