On this day 35 years ago the OG GOAT,@MuhammadAli, taught me a lesson that I still carry to this day.

Here is an unedited segment from my upcoming book about the autograph and experience.

“The Greatest”

Years ago, my father was in the Atlanta Airport and saw Muhammad Ali signing autographs. This was when his Parkinson’s disease was starting to get quite bad, but he was still sitting there signing for people. My father walked up to him and asked him for an autograph for me. Mr. Ali signed, stared at it for a few seconds, and then crumpled it up.

“Not good enough,” he said.

He pulled out another pamphlet, signed it, reviewed it, and then deemed it worthy to hand it over.

He didn’t know me, but Ali had such a passion for greatness in everything he did, that even a sloppy signature for a kid he didn’t know wasn’t good enough. It was a reflection of him; and that story is one I tell often.

There are so many times in life where we settle for good enough.

Greatness drives with passion, even with the minor details.

We live by this at @adaptive_jax. It’s a brand icon. We don’t check boxes. We achieve greatness by putting in the work. The right work. The smart work. The honorable work. It’s about stewardship.

As my friend @jasonkuhn255 says, “it’s how winning is done, and #itpaystobeawinner”.

I can’t wait to blow the bolts next year. 🚀

I’m very excited to show you a sneak peek of the book cover for “The Two Types of People in This World”.

This has been a very personal project, and I believe we are just getting started with this. We have big plans!
