Right there with you…4 decades. Society has changed, kids have too. People who aren’t educators do not understand what schools deal with. If this job was so easy, people would be flocking to this career. Notice no one is.

Spent 4 decades teaching in public schools. Yes, lots of wasted $, esp in admin. But my last 10 yrs, each class had 1-3 autistics, 3-4 non Eng speakers, 1-4 major behavioral issues. I worked my a** off and did the best I could with what was given. I loved my career despite the stress.

It’s been a rough start to the school year in NYC so I’m reposting this. It’s in the application where the learning sticks. I’m seeing lots of 40-min lessons where sts read and write less than 5 words. That doesn’t work. Implementing a flawed program w/ fidelity ensures failure.
