Can anyone explain how this was bogus? Didn't the report force the commission to change rules internally and improve processes? Am I missing something here?
What happened to Ritika Chopra’s painstaking 2- year investigative research into the Election Commission’s work now proven to be totally bogus? She and the Indian Express go scot-free with a weak apology? Doesn’t the Press Council see this a deliberate mischief unworthy of decent journalism?
As you become an adult, you realize that things around you weren't just always there; people made them happen. But only recently have I started to internalize how much tenacity *everything* requires. That hotel, that park, that railway. The world is a museum of passion projects.
Third world oligarchy model is an extreme centralization of economic power in a few hands, without a strong and non-partisan bureaucracy to discipline those business elites. State/Bureacracy here is captive to Adani/Ambani.
Thats how you get India or Philippines, not Japan/Korea
also been wondering lately whether tgis life of mine will amount to something substantial or wither away in isolation. really dont get the point of all this.
true but do you see the spiral that follows; people normalise these behaviours in their personal lives >> incentivises more people to act like this >> social contracts take a hit and therefore needs more of these ... keeps repeating until we stay a shithole forever
Unpopular opinion- But in real life you need brothers and friends like them in a zero sum and low trust society like India. People like these/lndlwdas camln be ery helpful for you in personal life but are cancerous to the modern civic society.
and a system to document or plot areas onto map where creators/groups have done the turnaround. later this can be used to penalise and shutter municipal bodies in such areas which are incompetent to the core
Very very opportune time to convert this into a mass movement
Make a big thing about it, Collab with govt depts, municipality
25 Crore fund to award such creators in a grand ceremony in Delhi Bharat Mandapam with top leaders present
5 Lakh cheque at end of year to most impactful 500 Swatchta creators who did most cleaning, turned around river, lakes, beaches
Groups can be awarded with bigger money
This will also have a great Global PR boost for India
Please please please we need this
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
One of the clearest signs of HIGH INTELLIGENCE is having no desire to be seen, admired, or understood by people, at peace with being misunderstood, and incredibly skilled at the art of letting go.
INDIA 🇮🇳 NEEDS A MASSIVE CIVIC MOVEMENT.
Even as the largest growing major economy, India continues to be one of the filthiest nations with corrupt, non-functional municipalities, terrible urban infrastructure, shockingly bad civic and traffic sense, and no punishment for treating the country like a dump yard, either for officials or citizens.
Unless civic governance and civic sense is fixed, I’m afraid we will remain the Third World.
This needs to be done irrespective of religious, caste or economic background. A lot of roadbloacks to urban QoL can be traced to this. The civic sense we keep ranting about in other countries was enforced by the state at some point. Both the public and the state are stakeholders
Indian cities are unwalkable because there is no mechanism in India to enforce civilized behavior in public.
You are just parroting American urbanist talking points. I live in a place with proper footpaths & bicycle tracks. Both are occupied by hawkers & are used by motorcyles.
Life is fucking electric bro. Don’t fall for the doomer shit. Thats for losers and normies scared of their own shadows. Walk around like God sent you and smile at everyone you see. Spread light and abundance. Build things and take chances. This is the best time in history!
Equating immigration to burglary is a classic bad faith argument. It strips away all human nuance like seeking safety or a better life and replaces it with presumed malicious intent. Definitely debate about border policy, but it should be done without false equivalencies.
“If you make legal burglary impossible by refusing burglars access to your domicile and belongings, don’t be mad when they illegally break in and take all your shit.”
You are such a loser.
NRIs scored a sweet 7% safe yield in USD, and banks got easy cheap liquidity. But the actual risk was just dumped onto the public balance sheet. I mean, kudos to the financial engineering but rupee will have to face immense pressure at maturity even things go even slightly off.
Basically the RBI took the fall for the banks' currency risk to hype up reserves today. But if the rupee takes a nosedive in a few years, the central bank is gonna eat a brutal loss. Plus, all these dollars come due at once in 2029.
Fast forward to 2029-2031 when these deposits mature. Billions in dollars have to head straight out the exit door all at once. If forex markets wobble then the panic to pay back NRIs could trigger a brutal currency squeeze right when we can least afford it.
Thirdly and most importantly, if you are unsure about a topic, read up and study about it rather than spouting off some sophistry to mislead the public. Yes, numbers from this regime and especially this 7.8% figure can be scrutinised in an honest and intelligent way but actual debate gives way to political partisanship when people like this amplify such drivel.
Liars, Damned liars and then come Statisticians. This was one of the ques in my undergrad stats exam. This is relevant because the author uses incorrect methodology to compare trends. That is one of the most basic and fundamental practices which leads me to doubt whether he is making an argument in good faith.
Because GDP is not growing at 7.8%, India's inflation numbers are fake. With fake inflation number you can make any GDP growth rate up. In same units (2025 dollars), India's GDP went from 2.85 trillion in 2015 to 3.92 trillion in 2025. This is 3.23% annual growth rate. NOWHERE CLOSE TO 7.8%. If India had grown even at 5.7% those 10 years, GDP would have been 5 trillion by 2025. Granted nobody claimed, 7.8% for last 10-11 years, but if it had been growing by 7.8% for 10 years it would have reached 6 trillion by 2025.
First and foremost, using 'constant usd' reflects US inflation and forex markets. You can't prove domestic Indian inflation is 'fake' using a metric that completely strips out the rupee.
Secondly, the 7.8% GDP print is a recent quarterly spike and not a 10 year average. The actual decade average includes the massive 2020 COVID contraction, so nobody is claiming 7.8% over ten years anyway.
