Grateful to meet with @MaryAnneThomas today to advocate for improvements in dental public system, including better working conditions, and more timely access to dental care. Was great to hear an acknowledgement that oral health is an important part of general health
Day #2 [daily photo of aged care oral health]
Tooth decay in multiple teeth, significant plaque & gum disease. Pain, embarrassed appearance, difficulty eating. Not a short term issue.
Solution: Medicare Seniors Dental Benefits Scheme

Every day between now and the election I will post a photo showing what we commonly see in aged care facilities, and why a Medicare Seniors Dental program is urgently required.
Residents deserve to have access to #dental care.
The mouth is part of the body.

@3AW693@TomElliott3AW Not if your a public patient waiting for dental care…. In Vic 25 months to 4 years. Npa funding poor and nothing for our seniors . So much for royal commission recommendations
Such a shame. our public waiting lists her in Vic average 25 months and in some areas 4 years . oral health shunned again. What about the seniors that can’t afford or access to dental care. We’ve spent two years protecting the vulnerable from covid but not there for them now!
@AUS_Dental What a shame! Public dental waiting lists now approaching 4.5 years in some areas with an average of 25 monthsand our elderly can’t afford or access appropriate care. The mouth is a part of the body. Oral health is part of general health .
Another Federal Budget that is light on for oral health. Once again we see an extension to the National Partnership Agreement for adult dental services - another Band-Aid to a system that is broken.
Hey, I am helping a great cause. Raising money for the evident foundation that helps support vital practice based research . Check out https://t.co/pAqF2ZKbar
@amapresident Dentists in Victoria still not allowed to screen their patients for oral cancer or dental disease. 235 days of restricted dental care will impact their general health.
Teeth like routine. To keep them smiling:
🦷 brush with fluoride toothpaste morning & night
✨ floss between them daily
🥦 eat nutritious foods from the 5 food groups & limit added sugar
☑️ take them for regular dental health check-ups.

Extraordinarily short-sighted decision if true - very clear recommendation from the Royal Commission to establish a seniors dental program in Medicare. Dental health needs to have the same level of priority as other areas of health. #dental 🦷
